Stella DeSantis, a Senior Director – Investments at Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. combines numerous products and services, such as financial planning strategies involving equities, mutual funds, unit trusts, options and, where appropriate, alternative investments for qualified investors. Once she has decided which investments are best suited for an individual client, she seeks to assist the client in building his or her wealth through appropriate asset allocation with a focus on the clients risk tolerance
and financial goals.
Because it is important to Stella to build a long-term relationship of trust with each of her clients, she factors into each asset allocation, the client’s risk tolerance, time horizons, need for income and available income streams.
Communications are as important to Stella as analysis: she regards each Financial Advisor/Client relationship as a
long-term bond of trust. Developing solid relationships with her clients helps her monitor their portfolios and, when
necessary due to the market or changes in clients’ life circumstances, to rebalance them. She regards helping to
educate her clients in making prudent investment choices as part of her responsibility to them.
Stella has joined Oppenheimer after over 16 years at Morgan Stanley/Smith Barney in Allentown, PA, where she
was a First Vice President and a member of the firm’s Blue Chip Council and its Century Club. Prior to her time at
Morgan, she was a Senior Sales Representative at Scherrer Resources creators of Broker’s Ally software.
Stella graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (BBA) cum laude from The Wharton School of
the University of Pennsylvania, where she majored in Business/Finance, with a minor in marketing. She worked her
way through school with positions as a legal secretary to the Senior Partner of the legal firm Rawle & Henderson
and as an usher at the Academy of Music, where she was thrilled to meet people like Luciano Pavarotti, Frank
Sinatra and Bette Midler. She holds the General Securities Representative License (Series 7), the Uniform Securities
Agent State Law Examination (Series 63), the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination (Series 65) and the
Futures Managed Funds Examination (Series 31).
In the limited spare time available to her, she is a singer and actress, an avid skier and golfer as well as a gourmet
cook. She has three children and resides in Center Valley, PA.
HOW DO I HELP CLIENTS WORK TOWARDS ACHIEVING THEIR GOALS?
I believe that:
- Clients need to be aware of their financial goals and create workable strategies.
- Successful asset management requires understanding of the capital markets as a whole and the investment
discipline for clients to manage their portfolios actively.
- Asset allocation includes finding the blend of stocks, bonds and cash that is both appropriate to each client and
most likely to maximize returns at a chosen level of risk.
- Performance measurement, clear communication with clients and recommending rebalancing when clients’ life
situations or market conditions change are essential tasks in meeting financial objectives.
