Alan Brookshire has more than 16 years of financial services experience. He began his financial service career in academe, working for the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement as North Carolina State University’s Director of Accounting. Subsequently, he moved into the private sector and continued his career at Merrill Lynch and UBS before he joined Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. in 2009.

He earned his B.A. in Accounting from North Carolina State University and has been awarded the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) designation by the Center for Fiduciary Studies.

Alan is currently a member of the Board of Asheville Youth Cycling, a local non-profit organization that seeks to provide cycling instruction and mountain bike outings for children who would not otherwise be able to participate in these activities. He has also been an active participant and volunteer for Meals on Wheels, American Red Cross Heroes and is an active member of his Church.

When Alan is not working, he can be found riding his bicycle through the mountains of Western North Carolina. An avid cyclist and devoted outdoorsman, Alan enjoys fishing, hunting and cycling. Above all, he enjoys coaching his children’s sports activities. Alan, his wife and their four children live on their family farm in Hendersonville, NC.

Jim Chandley focuses his practice on tax-efficient strategies for wealth building. He assists his clients in meeting their long-term goals, including estate-planning strategies and collaborates with their tax and legal advisors.

His clients benefit from Jim’s more than 32 years in the financial services arena. Before joining Oppenheimer in 2009, he worked at Merrill Lynch and UBS. Prior to moving into the investment industry, he worked as a branch manager with Georgia-Pacific. He graduated from the University of Tennessee – Knoxville with a B.S. in Business Administration.

Jim lives in Fairview with his wife. They have one daughter and four active and accomplished grandchildren. In addition to being a proud grandfather, he especially enjoys racing thoroughbred horses, golfing, hunting and fishing.

Julie Willard, who joined Oppenheimer in 2009, helped facilitate the creation The Village Group in August 2010. At Oppenheimer, Julie is responsible for managing client relations. She oversees the client investment process and collaborates with the team on investment options and solutions. Julie consults with clients on their financial planning and lifestyle needs and implements investment strategies accordingly.  In addition, Julie is charged with the team’s marketing, communications and business development.

She started her career in financial services in 2000 at First Union in Asheville after leaving Telluride, Colorado, where she worked as Director of Sales and Marketing.  Julie then moved to UBS where she became a Financial Advisor. After five years of working as an independent advisor, she joined on a team with Alan Brookshire. Julie earned a B.S. in communications with a concentration in Broadcast Journalism, as well as a B.A. in Theatre and Dance from Appalachian State University. Her community service represents her academic training. She is a Board Member and Treasurer of NC Stage, a local professional theatre. She is also Vice President of Fundraising on the PTO Board of Claxton Elementary School and has served as Vice Chair and a member of the Board of the Asheville Affiliates, which raises assets and awareness for other non-profit organizations in the area.

Julie and her husband live in Asheville with their three children. They enjoy family related activities including skiing, hiking, camping, swimming, and playing tennis.
